  Conceptual Description for Information Modeling based on Intensional Containment Relation

  Abstarct:

  In information systems design the concpets by which the Universe of Discourse (UoD) is described, must be recognised, named and described before the system can be constructed. The description of concepts depends onpoints of view of users, on their knowldge about the UoD, and on their goals. Concepts are constructed from knwoldge primities and from other concepts by using an intensional containment relation as a basic relationship. In this work we analyse some properties of the intensional constainment relation, proposed by Kauppi, study some propoeries of concept description language Concept D based on that realtion, and conclude by giving an example of using Concept D for conceptual modeling in which the point of view is taken into account. We are also, describing breifly the formal strcuture of a concetual schema made by using Concept D. We give some emprical evidence about the structure of aconceptual schema of his kind.

  Open Estelle- A Formal Description Technique for Open Distributed Systems

  Abstarct:

  Formal Description Techniques (FDTs) are being advocated for the development of reliable software systems. With their formal synatx and semantics they allow a precise description of systems and support the verfication of functional and non-functional properties. An FDT especially designed for the specification of distriburted, communicating and coordination. With its formal semantics and its directly implementable type- and execution-model, it builds a bridge between formal aspects and implementation aspects.
  กก A deficit of Estelle is the fact that it does not support the formal specification of non-closed systems, i.e., systems embedded into and interacting with some environment. To overcome this efficiency, we present an extension of Estelle called "Open Estelle". It allows the specification of (topologically) open systems, i.e.,, systems with the ability to commuincate with any environemnt, through a well-defined external interface. Since the external interface of an open systems is given as an independent description, any envrionment can be defined by referring to this interface description only. This allows the separation of concerns between an open systems and its possible environments and therefore supports the separated development, verfication, and testing of compenets of large systems and their reuse. Further more, we present the code generator XEC for the autoimatic generation of efficient implementations directly from Open Estelle specifications. It allows the !independent translation of open systems for an incorporation into Eselle-specified or real-world environment.
